Is a condo near the BTS really the right choice when your dog or cat cannot ride the train with you?
Rail access shapes almost every Bangkok rental search. A short walk to the Skytrain or subway makes the weekday commute far easier and keeps the rest of the city within reach.
Your pet, however, travels on different terms. Much of Bangkok's rail network is closed to animals, so how your dog or cat reaches the vet, the groomer or a weekend escape matters just as much as your own route to the office.

How Do Pets Get Around Bangkok?
Before you shortlist buildings by station, it helps to know which transport options are actually open to your pet.
BTS Skytrain: No Pets on Board
The BTS does not allow pets on its trains, even inside a bag, basket, cage or carrier. As reported by Nation Thailand, BTSC confirmed in July 2022 that the only exceptions are guide dogs for visually impaired passengers and security K-9 dogs.
In practice, a condo beside a BTS station serves your commute, not your pet's.
MRT: Confirm the Current Rule First
We have deliberately not stated an MRT pet rule here, because it should be confirmed directly with the operator.
Until you have that confirmation in hand, plan your pet's journeys around another option.
SRT Red Line: A Weekend Pet Carriage
From 4 January 2025, the SRT Red Line began running one pet carriage per train on Saturdays and Sundays, as covered by the Bangkok Post.
The Government Public Relations Department sets out the same conditions, summarised below.
Red Line pet carriage conditions:
- dogs and cats only;
- one pet per passenger;
- a carrier no larger than 55 x 37 x 30 cm;
- a pet ID or vaccination certificate shown before boarding.
GrabPet: Door-to-Door Rides
For most everyday trips, Bangkok pet owners rely on GrabPet, Grab's pet-friendly ride option. Time Out Bangkok reported launch fares from 95 baht, with GrabPet XL from 145 baht.
Because a ride collects you at the building entrance, a convenient drop-off point can matter to a pet owner as much as a short walk to the platform.

Before You Sign: How Do Pets Move Through the Building?
Tip: a pet-friendly label tells you pets are accepted, but not how they may move through shared spaces. Before signing, ask the juristic person for the building's written rules on pets in lifts and lobbies.
These rules shape your daily routine far more than a line in the listing, especially if you walk your dog several times a day.
